ABBY ANDERSON RELEASES NEW SONG 'BAD POSTURE'

With the release of her debut EP I’M GOOD in 2018, Abby Anderson should have been happier than ever – she was named a Pandora Country Artist to Watch and recognized as a member of CMT’s 2018 Next Women of Country, The Bobby Bones Show’s Class of 2019, MusicRow Magazine’s 2019 Next Big Things and Sounds Like Nashville’s list of Country Artists to Watch in 2019, as well as making her national television debut on NBC’s “TODAY Show.”

But the singer-songwriter sensed there was still something amiss: “I found this photo of me, and don’t get me wrong, I was smiling and the right weight for my frame, dressed the way people thought a girl like me should dress,” Anderson shares. “But it wasn’t me. I felt like I was looking at someone else. I asked, ‘why don’t I recognize this person?’

“So, I made some changes,” she elaborates. “I gave myself permission to be happy, to eat what I wanted and make the music I wanted without trying to fit into some preconceived notion of what a woman should be. Somewhere along the way, I started standing up taller and actually smiling, not just the controlled grin that portrayed a happy version of my best in photos. And when the outside started to reflect what I was feeling inside, it also came out through the music I was writing.”

With those changes making way for the authentic singer-songwriter to shine through, today Anderson releases “Bad Posture,” the first single off of her new album due out early 2022, via Stem.

Written alongside Anna Vaus and produced by Marshall Altman, “Bad Posture” showcases Anderson’s appreciation for the experiences and early life lessons that have helped her recognize and accept happiness, and embrace her past and her present with a sound that fully captures who she is as an artist, a songwriter and as a woman who isn’t afraid to stand up tall and say what she stands for.

Most days I feel like I grew a few inches

I catch myself questioning me

There’s still parts of you that I still try to please

Phantom pains of your opinion

Burden on my shoulders

All of your words that you put on me like a weight

Yeah I used to have bad posture

But since you’ve been gone

I stand up straight

Earlier this month, Anderson wed her fiancé Tyler Graham at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tenn. in a ceremony surrounded by family.
